The situation in Georgia/South Ossetia agrees very well with Bernadette’s description of the forthcoming lunar eclipse - intrigue in halls of power and countries dividing and/or reuniting. But I thought I’d also take a look at the visual astrology for the area, especially as Sirius is often the heliacal rising star around this time of year. I used Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia, and using the parapegma in ‘Starlight’ discovered that Sirius became the heliacal rising star there on Monday 4 August, its last day being Thursday 7 August (i.e. the day Georgia launched its attack on South Ossetia). Moreover, around 16:30 the Moon entered Scorpio, so both Sun and Moon were in fixed signs (but not yet square - that occurred the next day, when Russia joined in).
There are some very interesting mundane parans, perhaps the most striking being:
Moon/Pollux - help which is needed fails to arrive
Moon/El Nath - a group suffers from the cruelty of others
Mercury/Capulus - A confronting news article, strong criticism (circumpolar)
Mercury/El Nath - one who speaks out, abrasive language or speeches
Mercury/Antares - anxiety and worry
Mars/Betelgeuse - the establishment uses a heavy hand
Jupiter/Arcturus - a leader rises to the occasion and takes bold action
Saturn/Capella - fast action required by civic leaders, or the law makers
There are some very powerful stars in paran during this period, including two Royal Stars (Regulus and Antares) and two of the most difficult stars (Algol and Capulus). And of course, Sirus ‘the Scorcher.’
Best wishes
Moragh

Hullo Everyone,
The August newsletter has been sent out and many people are sending in comments re the concept of the eclipse of the Swallows, and the crop circle on the same name. The Lunar eclipse series started in 1503 and occured in the Fishes of Pisces which were known by the Assyrians as the “Swallows” .. meanwhile the fields of south west England have been echoing to this eclipse. Follow this link to see the crop circle named the Swallows.
http://cropcircleconnector.com/2008/southfield/southfield2008.html
If you did not get your copy of the newsletter then it will be archived within a few days at Starlight’s web site - www.zyntara.com
I would love to hear people stories as this eclipse emerges.
cheers
Bernadette

Hi Adam,
A good question and one that may have confused others. It is perhaps clearer to say that ‘ONE OF THE TIMES she is at her brightest is when Venus goes retrograde’. But remember that Venus goes retrograde at two places in relation to the Sun: one when she is inferior to the Sun and one when she is superior. So when you ask about ’maximum elongation’, you are in fact speaking of Venus when she is superior to the Sun’s position as seen visually from earth. So she will indeed be at her brightest when she goes retrograde but elongation will depend upon her position in relation to the Sun.
Hope this clarifies it for you,
Darrelyn

Hi everyone,
This is to let you all know that the Visual Astrology Newsletter is going out this evening (Wednesday 16th July) even as I write this blog. I have written the VAN this time and it is formed around an interesting phenomenon that I discovered in working with clients connected with Pegasus and Equuleus. Bernadette and I have named this phenomenon equus naissance and if any of you have had similar experiences it would be great to hear from you on this blog.
Cheers!

Greetings All,
A short question in response to the statement in the great June ‘08 VAN article on Venus: “… Venus is at its brightest when it is retrograde, as this is the period when it is furthest from the sun,…” Starlight confirms that Venus is brightest at its rx station (next one is 6 Mar 2009), but she is by no means furthest from the sun then. She is a full 17+ degrees closer to the Sun at her station than at her max. elongation of 48deg 20′ (next one is 2 Jan 2009). So, the question appears to be, Does Venus appear brightest to us at her station due to the wide swing arc of her retrograde loop which sends her further away from the Sun than simple celestial longitude can measure? If not this, then why might she appear to us to be brighter when she is much closer to the Sun by longitude?
Thanks very much!
Best to All, Adam

Chart for images - 21 June 2008 London
Hello fellow Viziers (shortened form of visual astrologers!)I was just noticing in my emphemeris while having my morning tea, as one does, that Mars will soon join the Nodes, right at the Solstice and when he does, he will oppose Neptune at the same time. Pluto will perfect an opposition to the Sun by retrograding for the last time into Saggitarius, and Mercury will go direct. Now, I am not sure about everyone else on this list, but I am not fond of Mars on the Nodes, especially since Mars will have in the mundane parans the following:
Mars - The Events of the Day Rising when Fomalhaut is Setting orb 00 mins 44 secs - The actions of a fanatic, or a dreamer, take centre-stage Culminating when Menkar is Setting orb 01 mins 06 secs - A violent act
If I increase the orb of parans then Mars will pick up Alphard as well as Murzim – neither are friendly stars.Furthermore, Saturn has the following in mundane parans:
Saturn - The Law and Civic Order On Nadir when Facies is Setting orb 00 mins 41 secs - An attack on civil rights or groups of people
Setting when Bellatrix is On Nadir orb 01 mins 12 secs - Laws debated which seek education and rights for all groups - Arising and lying hidden
Increasing the orb by 37 secs, Saturn picks up Zosma – a star of victimisation.Neptune is accompanied in the mundane parans by:
Neptune - The Hopes and Fears of the Nation Culminating when Deneb Algedi is Culminating orb 01 mins 05 secs -The justice of the legal system or the law is challenged
On Nadir when Deneb Algedi is On Nadir orb 01 mins 06 secs -The justice of the legal system or the law is challenged Setting when Altair is Setting orb 01 mins 56 secs -Ungrounded, ill planned or fanatical actions - Curtailed passage
The Sun has in parans that day Aldebaran, and Aldebaran is the Heliacal Rising Star.If we look at the sky image (click to enlarge) then we see Mars and Saturn with the constellation Leo, Mars looking more aggressive, while Saturn is seeming more defensive. Venus radiates Sun and the toe of one of the twins of Gemini, while Mercury is whispering in the ear of the bull, who chases the Sun into Gemini. (or Mercury could be taking the bull by one of the horns..?)The role of the media (Mercury) is going to be interesting when this somewhat violent/disturbing event takes place, that will inspire the nation to volunteer, and to serve minority groups (Moon with Markab in mundane parans) and the role of the Leader will be challenged. The authority/military/powers-that-be will react strongly, perhaps too strongly – attacking a protesting group of people, and there will be an unhappy ending. Law will change in terms of military action, minority groups will be restricted, because of the radical action of one person (Mars with Formalhaut). One has to wonder about possible terrorist action, either here or abroad. I am thinking that the Zimbabwe crisis (as part of the common wealth) might finally erupt into the UK/EU arena, Gordon Brown will have to defend his leadership in terms of the aggressive criticism of fanatical leaders here and abroad, and if there are any actual natural disasters combining the energies of Mars and Neptune for example gas fires, suicide bombings, martyrdom military action, or deliberate poisoning of water supplies to communities, and such like, then authority figures will act ruthlessly and with no restraint.Mars will be in the Egyptian terms of Mars, and will according to traditional writers therefore be ungovernable, and for the most part of the day, Mars is close to the Sun and out of sect, aggravating the situation even more.
Anyone have any ideas on how this solstice ingress might play out? I have not looked at eclipses yet, and no doubt Brady’s saros series interpretations will yield more, but my tea is now cold…
Best wishes Nicky

Re posting by Faye 12 May 08
I have never posted before because I am a very new learner in this method and do not have the program, but being also in Southern hemisphere with points in “The stare of Cetus” I decided to post.
So perhaps also mine is upside down looking at the “Tummy” I am an older person who only took up studying after I retired, so have a lot to learn 19 May 1933 11:45am Melbourne Aust…
Mercury at 16 degrees 19 in paran with Menkar in 9th house,( to speak for the collective, from 15 I was teaching older girlfriends sex education) and MC at 19 degrees 57.

Hi Darrelyn - everyone
The last VAN has made me think again about visual astro which I do from time to time in my own quiet way even though I have been keeping a low profile here.
It is more of a question or food for thought really…
I have Moon/MC under the gaze of that miraculous sea monster. It was Poseidon who ordered her to come up from the deep so I was curious how Neptune might fit into the mythology here. Perhaps he can trigger her into life as well somehow, maybe at important transits or progressions where he is involved. Certainly a recent transit from Neptune to my Moon woke up the odd sea monster. Now that he is sitting on my Sun it appears I am researching Cetus!
However another question - as I was born at the other end of this planet, Cetus is eyeing my Moon-MC not from the depths, but floating along on her back looking down at them. Maybe in the southern hemisphere she likes having her tummy tickled! Does anyone know what southern hemisphere starlore thinks about Cetus? I can’t seem to find anything but did come across the wonderful Aotearoa stonehenge site - made me quite homesick! http://www.astronomynz.org.nz/stonehenge/.
Anyway any suggestions welcome so I can get a grip on what she might be trying to say to us.
Faye

Born with the Sun and Mercury right “in the Stare of Cetus”, the Swiss occultist, artist, musician and astrologer “Akron” (Charles Frey) makes Cetus come alive on his website. His birth date, according to Wikipedia, is April 30, 1948 in Munsteringen (TG), Switzerland, other sources give May 01, 1948.
On his website, http://www.peregrinus.ch/, he has a lot of paintings and texts that let one get a deeper feeling for what Cetus is about. He has the talent to make the “collective unconcious” visible by his actions and presentations there.
On entering his website, one finds a picture in the middle, “Lilith’s Zaubergarten” (Lilith’s magic garden). If one clicks on this picture, it will show a larger and coloured version. Just let yourself get enchanted by all the details for a while, and then click on the snakelike feet of the woman.
You will see an even more detailed part of the picture then. Just click on the snake-feet again…
Translation of Akron’s text that goes with the monster: “My being is the immortality, and it is impossible to conceive me, because I am more than you will ever see, and I am more than you can comprehend, but nevertheless I am only a part of yourself. I am everything, I was and I will be everything, even though yesterday I was less than I am today, and tomorrow I might be more than I am now. I am the only one who can save you from the shadowy mirrorings of your soul, if you accept me within yourself, and if you recognize how relentlessly you are entangled with me. As long as you do not recognize, there wil be no escape, your shadow will catch up with you wherever you try to hide. But if you immerse with me into the ultimate source of beeing, you will be able to remember experiences which souls cannot see, because they repress them on their journey towards the light.“
If you take the time, you will find many places where to click on the picture, and it will lead you to various pictures and impressions about the theme of the garden. Also other parts of the website give more impressions about him, his way of living and thinking.

Hello Everyone, Darrelyn
I feel compelled to lift my head from my unbelievably busy timetable to support Darrelyn’s thinking about Mars in the eye of Cetus, and to share a visual of an electional chart with Mars in such a position.
Here is the chart of the day on which a client of mine went for an embryo transplant as part of the process of an IVF treatment to get pregnant. She had tried three times before with no luck, and apparently there was no medical reason for her not being able to conceive. She was desperate this time, as it was her last attempt due to financial constraints and she was really down to the wire. She produced only two eggs in spite of taking drugs to stimulate ovulation, and her embryos were dead dodge - she had one embryo of 4-cells and one of 1-cell, when usually they should have been at least 8-cell embryos. The doctors wanted her to call off the treatment, but she decided to stay on the programme, she gritted her teeth, stood her ground and willed this baby into being.
Against all odds, she did achieve pregnancy and a live birth of a healthy son, and it was due to sheer determination and not giving up the fight. Intense focus on fighting off demons of past failures and disappointments was the key to her success.
In terms of her astrology, Mars was the almuten of Pregnancy, the ruler of her profected year, and aspected her natal 5th house Venus by transit that day.
Are there any more Cetus stories out there?
best wishes
Nicky
