From Marcia - Tri-partite Divinity
Written on June 5, 2007 by Bernadette
Here are my first few ideas of things that struck me that could make a great difference for me:- The idea of the tri-partite location of Divinity. I’d been trained since the cradle that the only place Divinity could ever exist was “Up”, whether I accepted the Judeo-Christian mythos, Plato’s Forms, the Buddha’s enlightenment or even ‘chariots of the gods’ – the whole advanced-beings-from-outer-space idea so popular in much Newage (rhymes with sewage) thinking. But what does it mean to contemplate the marvel that Divinity may exist in other forms in other places? Most of us with a Judeo-Christian upbringing can easily contemplate a divinity (or, more correctly, anti-divinity) of the Below, but divinity in the here and now, all the time, on the surface of Planet Earth? That’s still rather radical.- Often, when studying ancient astrological methods, I am enjoined – with good reason, to keep me from trying to squash a different methodology into an amorphous mass with modern techniques – to adhere strictly to what are perceived as ‘the rules’ of the method as put forth by that teacher or translator. While this does help instill the intellectual rigor to maintain simultaneous awareness of different methodologies, what is often lost is imagining and dreaming – even within the context of the method itself. In other words, if it was not written, I’m not even to try to explore interpretive possibilities even when remaining within the boundaries of the method. And this imaginal thinking is extremely important for my mode of cognition to flourish. So what was quite liberating about the way the Star Logos material was presented was that, within the bounds of the methods, we were encouraged to roam as far as we could.
More later as I think of them (back to the bathtub). All the best, Marcia
