Lunar Eclipse

Written on August 29, 2007 by Bernadette

I have just been sent this lovely image taken by astrologer Rick Levine.. well done Rick. I thought that everyone may enjoy it…

In the September VAN I am working on the combination of this eclipse and Saturn joining with the King Star - Regulus… but having got this image by email I wanted to share it with everyone. Thanks again Rick

Yup, this was what I saw from my front lawn in the wee hours - the deep copper disk, fairly low in the southern sky.

Since the Moon was in tropical Pisces, it was amongst the stars of the Water Bearer - in his lap, if you look at the visual of the constellation using Starlight.

An interesting data set I’ve begun to compile is a Fixed Star chart for the beginning eclipse of each Saros Series. I thought it could be interesting to include any fixed stars that have parans and blend them into the interpretations of each eclipse series. Since the beginning eclipse of each series takes place near the poles, the only star parans that I’ve seen (maybe the only ones possible? not sure) are culminating parans.

The Series to which this eclipse belongs (9 New South) had a cluminating paran of Aculeus (the “that which doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” sting of the Scorpion) with Mars. During this beginning eclipse, Mars was in the tropical sign of Gemini and between the horns of the Great Bull - just as He is for this eclipse. As Bernadette said in a previous post, being alone in the sky for much of the night, he bears careful watching. (He was a majestic sight amongst the stars of Taurus, by the way.)

    Hi Marcia

There are two ways of looking at an eclipse series. The first is to look at the solar eclipse series (as I did in my book on predictive astrology) and this one as you have said is 9 New South which started on 19 July 1917 and as you said it is at the South Pole, so pretty hard to get any star parans - and I doubt if we can even take culminating but it could be worth playing with. Or, the second approach which I like is to consider the lunar eclipses in their own saros series (in other words I am now disagreeing with myself in my book ) .

A lunar saros series acutally starts on the equator, which of course makes it available to star parans. Now I have not tracked this particular lunar series back but this would be the approach I would take now.

This lunar series is #128 and according to Fred Espanak site:

    http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEsaros/LEsaros128.html

It began on the 18 June 1304 at 18.30 GMT ( but I get 9.33 GMT for the exact opposition) - and I would set the latitude to 0N01 as Starlight does not like a zero (computers never really cope with such numbers :) … )

Anyway with such a chart we can do parans - and just looking at the mundane parans there is only one star to an outer planet and then of course the HR and HS stars.

¬ Uranus - Public opinion, Public expectations
Setting when Capulus is Rising orb 01 mins 03 secs -
Mob rule, a likelihood of violence erupting in the community

Î Neptune - The Hopes and Fears of the Nation
On Nadir when Sualocin is Setting orb 01 mins 54 secs -
Dreams of a better life, dreams of wealth, spiritually or physically

THE ANNUAL THEMES THAT REOCCUR FOR THIS LATITUDE EVERY YEAR IN THIS ERA

    Heliacal Rising Star
Sirius - Rising 03 mins 37 secs before Sunrise -
The potential of an historical event

    Heliacal Setting Star
Vega - Setting 04 mins 32 secs before Sunrise -
A time or wonder, a time of awe

There are other stars of course but the above are I considered to be the major stars.

So thus to extend this thinking we would say that this was the “theme” of this Lunar Saros series which of course would then be repeated every 18 years 9 or 11 days until the series ends on 2 August 2566 (full list of occurances on the above web site) . Such a theme of course could be about revolution of a people being fed up with some form of oppression … maybe???

The next job of course is to check all of the past occurances with history and just see if you can match this theme, which will help modify your meanings or change them all together - I would also take into account the horoscopic chart for the first event as well.

I would love to write a book on Lunar eclipses based on this thinking - but it is on a list in my head of books to write, research to do, more things that need to be looked at… :)

Now with Fred Espenak site a lot of the grunt work has already been done and what is required is the historical research for each series and then of course the writting up…

Anyway this is my current thinking on this topic

    bye for now
