Hi Everyone!
I have been away in Africa for two months, and have had little, if any internet communication, and have really missed being in contact with this list, but I really did enjoy watching the station of Jupiter with Antares from the Southern skies.
Several of you might have sent in requests to join the blog, and because of the internet situation down south, you might have slipped off the page into cyberspace, so if I have not replied to you and given you a password, then please send in your request again, so that we can hear your stories too.
Right, to the image I have posted - Louise, one of our fellow starlogos delegates wrote to me asking the following horary question:
“will Olivia’s son win the court case against him?” Her delineation went something like this
“Son - Hse 5 - ruled by Moon in derived 12th - prison - and also end of matter - he will go to prison but because Moon is separating from Mars - he may be lucky - Judge may not consider him important enough - and get a suspended sentence.
Judge is Jupiter in Sag. - rulership in 12th - good, fair judge.
That is all OK. But wanted to put stars underneath and see what came up :
When I looked at sky map saw Mars between the horns of the Bull and Moon underneath Mars and close to El Nath. What spin would you put on this?
When did mundane parans for Moon - son - found the following :
Moon on Nadir when Alhena is Culminating - The people have a common mission or goal
Moon on Nadir when Vega is on Nadir - High expectations, seeking a saviour
Moon on Nadir when Facies is on Nadir - Wounded people, people who have been harshly treated
Moon Rising when Betelgeuse is Setting - Emotions run high concerning the popular leader”
If we look at the sky map - and especially at Mars and Moon, being the two significators, then we see the following image of The Great Bull bearing down on both of them, the Establishment is very aggressive towards both planets - in other words the Judge is not going to be very lenient, and the full weight of the law is going to be applied to Olivia’s son. Interesting to my eye is the position of the Moon on the tip of the horn, possibly occulting El Nath. This might indicate that the Judge will come down hard on the mother and the son, especially if the son is young and still living at home. I have no idea how old he is, but the court might decide either to make this issue the responsibility of his mother, or that she might have to be part of the solution in terms of a “house arrest” sentence?
I agree with Louise that the tropical location of Mars and Moon in the chart in the derived 12th of the child, is not good, especially since in the radical chart, this is the 4th house of the end of the matter, and there only seems to be an outside chance with the square to Uranus that something might suddenly come to light. I sincerely hope that he does not try to escape from captivity, as the judge is in rulership - being Jupiter the ruler of the 10th, in his own house and sign - this is a powerful Judge - as indicated already in the image of the Great Bull bearing down on the Mars. The presence of the Nodes on the Asc/Dec just adds more emphasis that the feeling one gets from the parans that this guy is going to be made an example of - he seems to be representing a collective, and as such his personal situation is less relevant to the Judge, this is an opportunity for the Establishment to send a powerful message to the people that whatever crime he committed is unacceptable and will be dealt with severely.
My feeling is that the other parans are speaking of a public case, in which the mother will try to seek popular press for her son, and that he will be seen as a victim by his tribe/family/collective, and he might gain some notoriety as a hero/saviour, but the Judge seems too strong to be swayed.
I am awfully sorry Louise ,if this is someone you know and care about, and I do wish him and his mother well, and my only advice to them would be to be utterly respectful of the Judge and the law.
Any comments anyone? Louise please post any conclusion back to us will you? I think I managed to get you back on the blog.
best wishes
Nicky

Hi Nicky,
this is an interesting horary but the first question I want to ask is: who asked this question? The way it is worded it looks as though someone other than Olivia asked it, in which case the first thing we need to ascertain is the relationship between the querent and Olivia. Only then can we assign the correct significator to Olivia’s son and proceed to judgement.
Cheers,
Pete
What are the chart data? Date, place, time? I can’t see the visuals closely enough to figure anything out, and would like a look-see of my own in Starlight.
All the best,
Marcia
Hi Marcia
You can see the image bigger if you just click on it in the original post, but for clarity the chart details are as follows: 4 Sept 2007 at 6.10 pm in Cape Town.
Looking forward to hearing what you have to say on the matter!
best Nicky
Hi Pete
I think both Louise and myself are using the first house for the querent, as she is named, and it is her question, we are using the 5th house for her son, and the 4th as his derived 12th. This is pretty standard on the traditional horary lists Louise and I are familiar with, but if you have a different version, please post it, and let’s see the visual according to the planet you ascribe to the querent and son if they differ from ours.
thanks for your post!
best wishes
Nicky
Hi Nicky,
I don’t use a different method of interpreting an horary, on the contrary I’ve used the standard method, as used by Lilly, for well over 20 years now.
In your original post you say:
“Louise, one of our fellow starlogos delegates wrote to me asking the following horary question:
‘will Olivia’s son win the court case against him?’ ”
This sounds very much as though Louise is asking a question about Olivia’s son, and if this is true then *Louise ought to be taken as the querent* - whose sig’ would be the lord of the 1st house - and the next step would be to identify her relationship to Olivia so that Olivia’s sig’ may be found, and then by derivation, that of Olivia’s son. If Olivia is Louise’s friend then she would be seen as the ruler of the 11th house, and her son would be the planet ruling the 3rd house (5th from the 11th). This would change the entire tenor of the judgement.
Warm regards,
Pete
Hi Pete
I get your point, but in the effort to keep the chart “clean” and in its most original form, we usually take the chart that the original astrologer used to avoid deriving ourselves into a confused knot! I know that this is not ideal, but it is the best idea that most horary lists have come up with, in the effort to keep one chart functioning for everyone. Louise was asked the question, and Olivia was the querent, asking about her son.
Please post and tell us what you thought about the horary in any case, it seems as tho’ you had some thoughts on it, using a derived house system - would you share those thoughts with us? I would love to see what others have made of the imagery.
thanks for your posts
regards
Nicky
