A Jupiter Pluto day - just like 1758
Written on December 11, 2007 by Bernadette
Noah and Michael have been posting interesting thoughts on the Jupiter Pluto conjunction. Today, the 11 Dec 2007, it is exact.
It is without doubt an interesting combination so I thought that I would put its images up here on the blog. Here is the new moon with the Jupiter/Pluto conjunction on the 11 December, 2007.
[This is a composite image from Starlight. I created the star map and did a screen copy into Photoshop and then did the same for Ophiuchus and pasted him, using the stick figure outlines to match his orientation and scale.]
Jupiter and Pluto come together every 13 years, but the last time we had this around the stars of Ophiuchus was in March to December 1758.
In 1758 pope Benedict XIV died….
Now if you link this with an observation made by Cindy in Malta and Elly in Amsterdam that the recent comet (called Holmes) has been in the constellation Perseus and that this is the very constellation which I think is associated with the current pope Benedict XVI, it does indeed make me wonder. (I did an article back on this in the May 2005 newsletter, for those interested) .
Join me in these ponderings if you wish :)

This is only a superficial comment on Perseus. Perseus Books was the publisher of “Without Roots: the West, Relativism, Christianity and Islam”, the Pope’s views on how absolute truth in the form of Christianity is the best antidote for the ‘evils’ of relativism.
I wouldn’t want to speculate about the Pope’s health. He has had a few strokes, and Uranus is about to cross his ascendant which could mean renewed liveliness and insight, feeling empowered to make his own reality. Maybe he will perform his own miracle and get well in ways we don’t know. Or maybe he will pass on suddenly.
But a thought occurred to me about the popes from 1758. Perhaps the conjunction had less to do with Benedict dying and more to do with the incoming pope, Clement, who was known for his honesty and generosity. The exact conjunction occurred about 8 months after Pope Benedict died. So the incoming Pope was the person most visible to the world. Maybe it had more to do with him.
I’m not sure if the current Benedict were to die now (after the conjunction), whether he would remain in the spotlight or be quickly forgotten in favour of a new and perhaps stronger symbol of Jupiter conj Pluto (whatever that might be). But it’s interesting to think about all these possibilities.
Bernadette, how do I get Starlight to let me copy and paste the star maps and images? Every time I try to do so, the program beeps at me. (I’m trying not to take the beeps personally …). Perhaps the program isn’t designed to allow this? Thought I’d ask just in case it IS designed to allow this and I’m just not asking it nicely enough …
By the way, I notice that the Moon-Mars conjunction at the upcoming Full Moon is dead smack in line with charging Taurus. (Had a dream last night–before I noticed the Full Moon alignment which was this morning–that my horses were in their pasture being chased by a giant bull and I couldn’t get in there to help them. A true night mare–it woke me up!)
HI Trish
As I said in the first post…
[This is a composite image from Starlight. I created the star map and did a screen copy into Photoshop and then did the same for Ophiuchus and pasted him, using the stick figure outlines to match his orientation and scale.]
So the sky maps printout easy of course by pushing the print button but if you want to do some fancy stuff like above then you open up the image and hold down the CTRL key WHILE pushing the PRT SCR key. This paste an image of the entire screen onto your clip board. Then you can paste it into any photo or image software that you have - you copy by opening a new document and then hold down the CTRL plus the V key.
I would love Starlight to do this sort of thing, but I can dream with the rest of you .. one day eh…
cheers

Hi Catherine
Thanks for those throughts, I did not know that the current pope had heart trouble.
“But a thought occurred to me about the popes from 1758. Perhaps the conjunction had less to do with Benedict dying and more to do with the incoming pope, Clement, who was known for his honesty and generosity.”
Yes you could be right, I have not done much research on the whole question but was just lead to these ponderings given the comet in Perseus and my own thinking on Perseus and this current pope when he was elected.
