Kenyas President Sworn In
Written on January 2, 2008 by Cornelia
Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki was declared winner of a disputed election that triggered furious riots by tens of thousands of opposition supporters. ECK chairman Samuel Kivuitu had announced the presidential election result shortly before 6PM on Sunday, Dec.30, 2007 , but opposition leader Raila Odinga claimed he had won instead, and accused Mr Kibaki of electoral fraud.
Kibaki was swiftly sworn into office immediately thereafter, at 18:35h Kenyan Time on Dec.30, 2007 (source: http://allafrica.com/stories/200712310440.html), while the Moon close to the IC made a square to the opposition of Mars and Puto, and the Sun was setting. This might be quite symbolic for the trouble he faces throughout the country at the moment, but also which he might have face later on, because half of his cabinet has been voted out of office in a wave of seeming dissatisfaction with his government, which left him with a minority of 35 seats in parliament against 100 seats of Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement Party.
He called for national healing and a strong, united, prosperous and equitable country, a theme that matches very well the Heliacal Rising and Setting Stars.
The president then ordered a ban on all live television reports.
